Afterlife Expanding (アフターライフ拡大する, Afutāraifu Kakudai-suru "Afterlife Expanding"). Also known as Project Isla: Afterlife Expanding Project. Commonly known in the title as Afterlife Expanding Project (AEP) is a Japanese post-apocalyptic science high fantasy novel series created by Rinne Yoshimizu and published by Yoshimizu Castle. It was spiritual successor to Touhou Galaxy Project series which has share similarly element from previous series and set in same universe as TGP series. However, Afterlife Expanding is set in the new timeline of Gamalaticania Universe known as "Yggdra Angel" that exist in its own universe as everything is no longer connect to old timeline and previous characters.

Afterlife Expanding was originally meant to be Touhou Galaxy Project Expanding Universe with this codename. However, due to several heavily change and completely new genre, the Afterlife Expanding start to distinguish itself from Touhou Galaxy Project series.

Overview

"Afterlife Expanding Project was and not only serve as successor to Touhou Galaxy Project story, but also replacement of that series. We plan to make this series as ultimate revenge tool against the ABM group, but we are not ready at that time. Too bad, if this got debut in 2019. The ABM will even death quicker. I called the project "Isla" refer to character in Plastic Memories, as well as word refer to "Island" as the TGP series being flood by ABM trolls and I have to deal these harassment the ABM send to me. Isla is a safe place for fresh new series while keep the exist media in this series as new media instead of second TGP reboot."

Project Isla

The Afterlife Expanding Project was known in the code name called "Project Isla", refer to Plastic Memories character, Isla which also a Spanish word "Island" as Touhou Galaxy Project series (at the time) being flood by ABM harassment left and right dub as "Touhou Galaxy Project 2.0" or TGP2 which plan to be newer series that shared both material across the series, as well as unoriginal story to the TGP series work since the end of Kotori continuity story. First concept of this media was work since 2017 which has story setting around world before the Gamalatican which given under Project Asgarandan. This concept was later scrapped in 2022 following the introduction of character Luna Eventyr which transfer into Tale of Goldia story.

After the final episode of Touhou Galaxy Project, Death of Lady Rema Yoshimizu was release. TGP Author has given a new codename of Tale of Goldia as part of newer Project Isla. Projecct Isla was plan to have four episode are Tale of Goldia, Blanec's Lowee Empire, Birth of Lady Tomoya Dinogi, and Untitied Kasami Hiiragi Project. TGP Author also plan for a fan-made project called "Afterlife Expanding" in 2023 with central plot being set in the Medieval-era Goldia where four great nation was exist. However, the delay of Blanec's Lowee Empire following the incident in January 2023, as well as Changing Goldia to Midgar led the Afterlife Expanding Project being created and officially distinguish themselves from TGP series.

Although Afterlife Expanding was debut which end the future Touhou Galaxy Project media such as Tale of Goldia and Blanec's Lowee Empire. Any material that already establish within Project Isla such as Luna Eventyr and 52nd millennium Gamalaticania Alliance still canon within Touhou Galaxy Project. Any future Touhou Galaxy Project material is only depend on source material such as Afterlife Expanding and TGP source material.

Setting

Overall

Like the Hyperdimension Neptunia: Touhou Galaxy Project. Afterlife Expanding is set in shared universe known as "Gamalaticania Universe" similarly to those Touhou Galaxy Project series. However, Afterlife Expanding is a different series which set in new timeline after Rinne has recover her memory of her death and her friend, Kotori. The every story and episode of Touhou Galaxy Project was buried in the old timeline which no longer exist in this timeline.

Midgar is the main location of the story setting which has four time larger than Earth, a terrestrial planet with several highly medieval civilization known as "Midgarans", a group of humanoid fairies that arrive with generation ship known as "Isla" in year one or seven million year since collapse of human civilization in a nuclear war.

Style

Afterlife Expanding setting is very high fantasy similarly to Japanese Isekai anime and manga while kept the Touhou Galaxy Project element such as post-apocalyptic human earth still exist as what before became Midgar.

Environment

The afterlife world of Gamalaticania Universe were largely dominated by highly advanced technology, but also dominate with magic, fantasy and medieval theme in some place and planet that feel like in a utopia.

Much like Touhou Galaxy Project's story structure. Afterlife Expanding will feature four episode each. TGP Author refer this structure as "Qualogy". Each episode always focus on protagonist's point of view (except Charlotte).

A high-fantasy theme story. Set in G.C. 2510 which about a 9-year old Princess Alicia who studies in the Midgar academy. As Midgar Kingdom is threaten by technological advanced invader known as Gamindustrian who arrive from another dimension and conquer much of the territory of the planet.

A science fantasy story. Set in G.C. 52517 about 14-year old Princess Luna Eventyr following the Second Gamindustrian invasion has end with destruction much of the Gamalatica galaxy including the downfall of Gamalaticania Alliance after the destruction of entire government by the Gamindustrian.

Charlotte Act

Protagonist: Charlotte

A surreal science fantasy horror story. Set in G.C. 1968 about 19-year old Princess Charlotte as still 3 year prior became the queen who wish to learn the unlimited of the knowledge she find including the question left infinite no answer such as the edge of the universe and the beyond of paradox. She was disappear from Midgar palace and founded by crew of CCSS Matsusaka were she has embark into journey into the beyond of the universe that will question her life and anything about this universe forever.

Hanasawa Act

Set in G.C. 2518 after Midgar Act about 15-year old Hanasawa Princess Tomoya who lost her important friend and allies, Princess Alicia to Gamindustrian invader to free the planet from conquer. While she is select to be crown princess of Hanasawa Kingdom, the kingdom on the eastern side of Midgar. She have a secert life of being child-like and want to be like herself in normal life instead of Hansawa's royal family. She also have experience about her past life prior before born to Midgar which has dark secret including the evil group known as "Against the Blanec Movement" and the person that buried in the hell.
